What’s on the Horizon
What once was, will never be the same. So many different emotions, thoughts of the unknown, and changes in our lives from the past 5 months. Our economy has paused for a moment and our lives have shifted to necessities only. We keeping pushing forward. Our workforce has moved to our home office causing people to be creative and agile during these times of change.
Some companies were already working from home because they found the value in utilizing a virtual environment with moving all their work applications to the cloud and utilizing home broadband to connect. Businesses who didn’t adapt to our ever-changing digital era made changes on the fly by adding Unified Communications, Hosted VOIP, increasing port speeds, increasing user licenses, and started to evaluate virtual environments like AWS and Azure.
All this I’m sure has caused IT professionals a lot of pressure on keeping everyone connected and working.
Now as our economy gradually opens up, you see more cars on the road because companies are having workers come back to the office, I can’t help but think how all the businesses that made so many changes to their existing environment, what will they do with it. Was it just temporary? Are they preparing for another stay at home order? Do they see an increase in employee productivity and work-life balance, or have they added this to the company profile permanently?
Some vendors offered their services for free while they stay at home orders were intact. Did these businesses take advantage of the free service and see the value and now they are adapting by purchasing those services? We will see how all this plays out over the next 6-10 months, let’s hope for the best.
